Keynote Panel Discussion: Members of the Wabanaki Youth in Science (WaYS) Program will share how they integrate technology science and traditional culture. The Wabanaki Youth in Science (WaYS) program has been a model educational program for Native youth since 2013. The purpose of WaYS is to provide Native youth the opportunity to see Cultural Knowledge and western science shared in the same space to understand the benefits and values these two aspects of knowledge provide. This is done through a multi-pronged program of earth camps, minicamps, after school programs and long-term internships.

Since 2018 we’ve awarded $8,800 that enabled 3,737 students to get outside! This grant is provided to NH schools or 501(c)3 non-profit organizations to provide students hands-on, experiential, outdoor field trip/learning opportunities. We are especially interested in supporting experiences that involve observation and exploration directly “in” nature. The grant funds can be used to cover transportation costs and/or student entry or program fees when applicable or to support the purchase of equipment that will help with outdoor observation and exploration experiences Anything that helps get students outdoors will be considered!
We anticipate awarding grants in the range of $200-$2000.
